What to Expect

Evaluation and Practice Approach

We are a specialist neuropsychological practice dedicated to providing inclusive and affirming assessments, evaluation and treatment across the lifespan.

Our expertise includes comprehensive assessments and second opinions for complex concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD), Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDDs), developmental-behavioral and psychoeducational concerns, and neuropsychological care across the life course.

We believe in strength-based, client and patient centered care, focusing on the unique abilities and strengths of every client, patient and family.

Our evaluation process is structured to provide clarity, support, and assurance that it is neurodiversity, gender, sociocultural and sex diversity affirming. Below is an outline of the typical appointment structure:

     1.    Initial Consultation

        •  Begin with a complimentary 10-minute consultation call with Dr. Forrest Harding to discuss your needs, answer questions, ensure a strong fit and determine the next steps to partner together in reaching your evaluation and treatment goals.

     2.    Intake Appointment

        • A 30-minute to 1-hour intake screening to gather initial information. The evaluation process starts with an initial screening appointment, lasting 30 minutes to 1 hour. Depending on the complexity of the case, additional clinical time of 1.5 to 3.5 hours or more may be scheduled. This phase includes: client and family interviews, review of patient records, collateral reports from family members or teachers (if applicable), and administration of screening and testing instruments, if appropriate.

     3.    Formal Assessment Appointments

        •  Appointment 1: Administration of standardized tests, such as the MIGDAS-2 or ADOS-2

        •  Appointment 2, 3 and Beyond: Additional cognitive, emotional, psychoeducational or behavioral assessments tailored to your unique needs (if applicable). These sessions may include treatment and diagnostic discussions, educational and professional support and psychoeducation as needed.

     4.    Follow-Up and Feedback Results Session

        •  Discuss diagnostic impressions and receive personalized feedback.

        •  Explore recommendations and strategies for accommodations or supports.

     5.    Comprehensive Report and Letters of Support (Optional)

        •  Upon request letters of accommodation or support can be included as well as a comprehensive diagnostic report can be provided (typically 10-15 or more pages in length), including evaluation and testing results, tailored recommendations, resources and advocacy support materials for accommodations, referrals and further treatment. Suggestions for continuing care and treatment planning (including if applicable limited treatment with Dr Forrest Harding)

Note: Assessments are available in-person or via telehealth or a combination, depending on preferences, location and determined need.

6.    Treatment and Care Referral Coordination (Optional)

Most patients, clients and families opt to receive time limited treatment and supportive care tailored to evaluation results as well as guidance in advocacy, referral in obtaining further care if needed and additional feedback sessions. We offer time limited treatment and additional sessions on a space available basis.

Our comprehensive assessments use gold-standard tools, such as:

   •       MIGDAS-2 (Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum, Second Edition, an affirming and sensory focused instrument)

   •       ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, commonly required by insurance payors, governmental and educational institutions)

   •       A telehealth, in-person or in residence, school, facility or other setting format tailored to needs.

Our Model of Care

We are flipping the broken American healthcare script and we do what other doctors cannot do:

  1. Be actually present and comprehensively patient focused
  2. Spend as much time as agreed upon with patients to achieve the possible outcomes
  3. Advocate for the best possible care and outcomes for patients
  4. Rigorously apply cutting edge research, empirical, peer and team reviewed evidence at every step of the way in the clinical decision-making and treatment process
